Rotor is an experimental sound and audiovisual collective founded in 2017 by Eelco Ottenhof and Joris Strijbos. The duo explores the interplay between sound, movement, and light, creating immersive environments that blur the boundaries between installation, performance, and visual art. Their work investigates the dynamic relationships between spatialized sound, audiovisual elements, and the audience's sensory experience.
At the heart of Rotor’s practice lies the use of rotating sound sources, multi-speaker setups, feedback systems, and modular synthesizers to create immersive auditory experiences. By utilizing movement and spatialization, the duo transforms sound into a tactile and multidirectional phenomenon, enveloping audiences in a constantly shifting sonic landscape.
In addition to installations, Rotor develops audiovisual performances that integrate their experimental soundscapes with light and visual projections, creating synchronized and atmospheric experiences. Through their innovative approach, Rotor redefines the possibilities of audiovisual expression, inviting audiences to engage deeply with the interplay of sound, light, and space.
